Next up, we have Claudia Graham, PhD, MPH.

‍

Claudia Graham is the former Senior Vice President of Global Access at Dexcom, where she navigated the complexities of the US Medicare and healthcare systems, using health economics, outcomes research and coding to define a strategy for reimbursement. She also made significant inroads to improving access for diabetes technologies for patients and physicians domestically and internationally.

‍

During her retirement, she has remained active on various national and local advisory boards serving the medical community. In addition to her nonprofit volunteer work, she remains professionally active in the diabetes community, having published and presented numerous articles at scientific conferences worldwide.

‍

She received her bachelor’s degree and her PhD from the University of Southern California and received her postdoctoral MPH from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Valendo Health: Why were you attracted to Valendo Health?

‍

Graham: I'm fascinated with the quandary that endocrinologists are in, and frankly, some other specialists, but particularly endocrinologists that have such a challenge with billable hours. I've studied this problem long and hard in healthcare. I actually have a postdoctoral in health policy. I believe in the future of value-based medicine and where we're going. The concept is also really near and dear to my heart especially as a person with diabetes, and that's why I want to be part of this team.

Valendo Health: Throughout your career you have had such varied experience throughout the diabetes industry. Can you speak to the challenges you have seen endocrinologists experience throughout your career?

‍

Graham: When I introduced pumps and CGMs to endocrinologists over the years, it was one of our greatest challenges for endocrinologists to be able to actually use them in the office because there was no financial incentive set up for them to embrace the technology. I feel like this is an area where Valendo Health will continue to help endocrinologists generate the revenue they need to survive.
